PITTSBURGH, Pa., June 3, 2008 -- APN Starfirst LP recently received an Excellent Supplier Award
from PPG Industries for superior accomplishments in 2007.
APN Starfirst LP, which is owned by the management of American PowerNet and based in Wyomissing,
Pa., provides consulting, technical and administrative services relating to wholesale and retail electricity
sourcing to PPG's chlor-alkali and derivatives, architectural finishes and performance glazings businesses
in the United States. It is one of eight suppliers being honored by the global manufacturer of paints,
coatings, chemicals, optical products, specialty materials, glass and fiber glass, which purchases almost
$7 billion in materials and services from thousands of suppliers each year.
Kathleen McGuire, PPG vice president, corporate purchasing and distribution, today presented APN
Starfirst LP with the Excellent Supplier Award trophy, made of PPG glass, at a ceremony here.
“As a key supplier of energy consulting services, the performance of APN Starfirst LP in 2007 was
outstanding,” McGuire said. “Their quality, service, delivery, documentation and innovation have been
exceptional, and they truly understand PPG’s needs as a customer.”
McGuire said APN Starfirst provided outstanding consulting and supplier services and support to help
PPG develop a wholesale electricity sourcing approach, versus using standard retail supply methods, that
enables the company to drive cost savings while implementing risk-management strategies in a volatile
energy marketplace.
“We consider APN Starfirst LP a very reliable and important business partner, and we view our
relationship with them as a significant competitive advantage to PPG,” she said.
Recipients of PPG’s supplier awards are chosen by ratings and evaluations measuring quality, delivery,
documentation, innovation, responsiveness and commercial value. Participation in the $AVE program, as
well as other continuous improvements, play an increasingly important role in earning the award.
